Terms and Conditions
As a member of the Beaconhouse International College community, you agree to the terms and conditions governing the use of BIC Scholastic, as outlined below. By becoming a user of the provided services and clicking the “I Accept” checkbox at the end of this undertaking, you are entering into a binding and enforceable agreement to comply with all the terms and conditions of this agreement.
"I acknowledge and agree that all resources and content (the 'licensed material') are the property of Beaconhouse International College, and their use is subject to limitations and agreements. I undertake to read and agree to these terms when I first log in to use BIC Scholastic.
I acknowledge that any passwords provided are personal to me, and I undertake not to share them with any third party. I am solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of my username and password and for all activities that occur under them. I agree to take all reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised use and to cooperate with the administration in investigating any such unauthorised use or infringements of BIC Scholastic's intellectual property rights."
This agreement expressly incorporates by reference and includes, without limitation, the terms and conditions, privacy policy, and any additional guidelines, rules, and/or disclaimers that may be posted or updated on specific web pages of the site, or on notices provided to you.
I. GENERAL TERMS OF USE
Use of the course material, including lecture notes, videos, case studies, online books, and activities, is restricted to the following purposes: teaching, research, personal educational development, administration and management of the college’s business, and development work associated with any of the aforementioned.
Use of the course material and online books is not permitted for consultancy or services leading to the commercial exploitation of any material by any party in exchange for monetary considerations.
- Users may use course material for their personal use only.
- Users must adhere to ethical conduct and shall not deliberately impair or undermine the usability or performance of computing facilities, communication networks, or stored information.
- Users are required to take all reasonable precautions to maintain the integrity of passwords and other security measures.
- Users must comply with any special conditions of use relating to individual databases, as outlined in the user documentation available to registered users.
- Users are required to respect intellectual property rights, including copyright and database rights, in the licensed material.
Failure to comply may result in restrictions on IT facility use, withdrawal of access for authorised users, removal of offending material, fines, and recovery of any costs incurred by the college due to the breach.
Users must always conduct themselves ethically and maintain social decorum while using the platform. This includes using appropriate language and ensuring that only relevant topics are discussed in the forums.
II. UNACCEPTABLE USE
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
- Sharing personal information about another person, such as their home address or phone number.
- Using the network for commercial or for-profit purposes.
- Conducting personal business activities via the network, which may result in disciplinary action.
- Advertising products or engaging in political lobbying through the network.
- Intentionally seeking information about, obtaining copies of, or modifying files, data, or passwords belonging to other users, or misrepresenting other users on the network.
- Disrupting the network’s usability for others or modifying/damaging hardware or software.
- Maliciously using the network to develop programs that harass other users, infiltrate systems, or damage software.
- Sending hate mail, chain letters, or harassment, or engaging in discriminatory or antisocial behaviours.
- Using profanity, obscenity, racist language, or any other terms that may offend others.
Beaconhouse International College reserves the right to pursue legal action against individuals whose violations of these terms and conditions result in legal proceedings.
